Oral History Workshop In-Person

Join us for an oral history training workshop led by Shanna Farrell from the UC Berkeley Oral History Center. The workshop covers oral history as a method; legal and ethical issues; project design; and the practice of oral history, including training with pre-interview preparation, conducting interviews and recording, and interview transcription.

Shanna Farrell is an oral historian, writer, and audio producer. She works as an interviewer for the Oral History Center of UC Berkeley, and directs the center's educational initiatives. She specializes in arts and letters, food and beverage culture, community and identity, and environmental history. She is the author of two books, A Good Drink: In Pursuit of Sustainable Spirits and Bay Area Cocktails: A History of Community, Culture and Craft. Her audio work has been featured on Gravy, NPR, KALW, and she serves as producer of The Berkeley Remix podcast. She currently serves as a member of the Oral History Association's council and on the Oral History Review's editorial board. She holds an interdisciplinary Master's degree from NYU and a Master's degree in Oral History from Columbia University.
