Review some of the basics of library searching! In this session we will discuss how to use the library catalog to locate articles and other items, find relevant databases, and learn basic Boolean search strategies. This is a general session, perfect for learning how to navigate library resources to conduct searches, get help, and use the tools available to you. This information is useful for all fields of study.
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- conduct a search in UC Library Search using Boolean search functions and keywords.
- access an eBook in UC Library Search.
- use ILL (interlibrary loan) to request an article or book that we do not have readily available.
- identify relevant databases in your field and do a search.
- know how to contact the library and librarians for research help and find library resources from the UC Merced Library website.
These sessions are reserved for students participating in the SURI program.
