Description
Think Open Access always means paying an Article Processing Charge (APC)?
Join us for a candid panel conversation that makes the case for Diamond Open Access (OA). An equitable approach to scholarly publishing, Diamond OA, provides online access to research outputs with no fees for readers or authors, relying on shared infrastructures and open licensing (UNESCO). If it's free for everyone, why isn't it the default?
Join panelists Eleanor Colla, Mike Dawson and Hamid Jamali for an honest look at the case for Diamond Open Access, chaired by Job Fransen.
The session runs for 50 minutes, with time built in for audience Q&A.

This online event is organized by Charles Sturt University and includes participation from UC Merced Professor Mike Dawson (Life & Environmental Sciences).
Professor Dawson is currently PI on a NSF funded project to build cross-society cross-journal collaborations that enhance community-oriented change in publishing; this includes a community of thought (PEEER), a free association, and a new scholar-led diamond open access journal: Biogeography Research.
