Who owns my TikTok? And why does Disney want to sue me? In-Person

Navigating the legal landscape of social media can mean the difference between a viral post and a taken-down video. This interactive workshop equips creators with the practical knowledge needed to confidently source, share, and protect digital content. Participants will learn how to identify public domain and open-access material—such as Royalty-Free music, Creative Commons visuals, and Fair Use clips—that can be safely incorporated into their posts. We will examine the mechanics of copyright enforcement, shedding light on why content is flagged, muted, or removed due to copyright strikes and platform licensing agreements. Finally, students will explore how to license their own unique creations, empowering them to maintain ownership, set usage terms, and protect their work online.
