Library Carpentry Online

Library Carpentry

This three-week workshop series teaches the fundamentals of working with messy data. If you're in the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences and you have messy data, this workshop will help you:

  • automate repetitive, boring, error-prone tasks
  • create, maintain and analyze sustainable and reusable data
  • work effectively with IT and systems colleagues
  • better understand the use of software in research

...and much more!

Your registration for this event will register you to attend the entire workshop which takes place over the course of three successive Fridays: April 16, 23, and 30. You can learn more about the curriculum here: https://annajiat.github.io/2021-04-16-merced-online/

Participants should install the required software (Unix Shell and Open Refine) on their computer prior to the first workshop. You can find installation guides here:

  1. Unix Shell: https://librarycarpentry.org/lc-shell/setup.html
  2. Open Refine: https://librarycarpentry.org/lc-open-refine/setup.html

If you need assistance with software installation, join us for pre-workshop office hours on Thursday, April 15, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm (same Zoom link as the workshop)
